Unmentionables

Kimberly is getting married this week! AND because I promised, here are a few candid moments from her Lingerie Shower:
Hostess Pic I gave her adjectives and she acted out with poses. Love it. I had the glorious idea of making a silly sign to place on an easel near the entrance of the room. Kimberly's fabulous twin, Allyson, was exceptionally crafty by creating a super-cute finished product.

Cotton Anniversary

Hubby and I celebrated our 2 year Anniversary on Friday, May 28, 2010. He had an arrangement of beautiful Spring flowers with a package of cotton tied to the vase delivered to my office. I was in the most indecisive mood that evening. Lee had even agreed to go see the sequel of Sex and the City with me. We bought the tickets but at last minute it just didn't seem right to go watch it with him. For example, he didn't understand why I insisted on wearing my rhinestone ballet flats and my new dress to go watch a movie when we often sport something comfortable consisting of jeans and a polo when we head to the theater. On the way there, I had a change of heart. Instead of watching the movie, we headed to Pier 1 to admire a table I have been crushing for our entryway. Later, we headed towards Route 66 to do something fun for dinner at Pops. I had chicken strips and Lee gobbled a cheeseburger. We stopped by the theater to get our tickets reimbursed on the way home. Getting horizontal on the couch cuddling next to my clever hubby was the perfect close to a long adventurous week.

Living Room

We've toured my ideal-at-the-moment Entryway, Kitchen, Study, Dining Room and Bathroom. Today, we're checking out my ideal-at-the-moment Living Room. I really mean it when I say, "Live". We tend to get horizontal on the couch after a long day at work quite frequently. A warm welcoming space with fluffy couches that screams, "Erin and Lee" is essential. If we could squish these 3 spaces together then I would have the perfect space for our living room.
Eclectically Organized. I love this space.
Touch of glam...
Here are a fun mix of colors that still keeps the room cozy.

Post Weekend

This past weekend I hosted a Lingerie Shower for my friend, Kimberly. I'll post a few pictures of the event soon but right now I want to show you what I bought for myself. Ha! I'm loving that I am able to see my vision for the Study come together. Yes, I asked for a Lowe's gift card for my Birthday...my how things have changed, huh?! And this! These fabulous margarita glasses were bought with a gift card too! They definitely add a fun punch of color to my shelves. Love Love Love them! Perfect purchase with Summer around the corner. Who's thirsty?!

Lee's Pedicure Problem

Last night while we were watching TV, my recently filed toe nails brushed against Lee and he squawked, "Ouch! Get your sloth toes away from me." After scratching him again, but this time out of spite; I asked, " What the heck is a sloth?!" He laughed, told me to watch the Discovery Channel and searched Google for this image:See, you learn something new everyday! Did you already know what a sloth is?!

A Strom is Brewing

A storm was brewing last night and I was cooking. In fact, as the sirens were going off in what sounded like our backyard, I was stirring the spaghetti. A tornado scurried past us but miles away. The weather was peculiar but it didn't wreck our evening. We feasted on chicken parmesan and skettie. Lots of seasoned burger meat and Italian sausage for the boy and sauteed veggies mixed into the sauce for me. We have a safe room in our house and I sported my Nike shoes all night to be ready to go if needed. Cooper's leash was in my purse. I also set a towel aside to keep him warm if he should get wet. We've got our Tornado Drill down pat. Do you have one?

Curb Appeal

This morning I did a double take as I started to peel away from the driveway. I took a moment to admire my big black pots on each side of our garage. Aren't they lovely? This year I chose moneywort to accent my pretty pink geraniums. Love Love Love it!

Because I Promised

I almost forgot! I promised to post more Pitt pix this week. See below: The top row is the lobby. There is also a beautiful mahogany credenza and desk on a yellow wall to house a future receptionist. I have more yellow flowers, an end table and guest chairs too. The frames were hung a little high but I couldn't tell the new guy to redo it. They are the tricky frames with double hooks on the back. I know hanging those in a straight line wasn't an easy task... Bottom-left is the conference table complete with old black and white spindle tops that I ordered online. Bottom-center is a glimpse of the break room. I have one of those quirky clocks at home too. Bottom-right you see our maps! They have purpose and also provide color. I didn't frame them so we can punch tacks into locations, etc. I tweaked my graphics to coordinate with the wall colors I chose. I used many of our graphics throughout the space. I have more spindle tops displayed too. The grey wall color looks different in every room. Boo.

Love Item

I was just thinking I need to buy a new jar of one of my love items ASAP and I thought I'd share with you what it is! I love many things but def one that tops my list is this moisturising cream:
The smell, the texture and the feel keep me buying more. I was taught that it is water to your face. Use it and abuse it. Seriously, the next time you're near a Chanel cosmetic counter, ask for a sample and try it for free!

Food in Pittsburgh

I often find myself watching a game in the bar at Primanti Brothers while I am in Pittsburgh. It beats going back to the hotel to sit in my room until bedtime and it's extremely close to my hotel. This week was unlike any other. In fact, just last night we had reason to celebrate. My birthday this coming weekend and the opening of our new office! We are still stocking inventory but we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. We'll have an official grand opening in June but back to Primanti Brothers...
Layers upon layers and lots of stuff that I minus; Primanti Brothers is famous for this sandwich:
And since I'm such a cool cat, the balloon art creators that were present last night gave me their heart. After providing a tip, I returned it so that they could give it to someone else to enjoy. I didn't have the "heart" to leave it in my hotel room and wilt by its lonesome since I'm heading home.
You should def check this place out if you ever find yourself in the Pitts. During his campaign, John McCain made a visit with his wife. I was in town when he made this stop but at a Primanti Brothers across town when he made this visit:

Pitcher Finds New Home

Lee and I headed to my hometown for the weekend to celebrate Mother's Day. We went in and out of our favorite stores throughout the day on Saturday. After finding some mandavillas to finish Grandma's front porch flowerbed, mom found these perfect pink tulips to stuff in an old pitcher she had been using on the back patio. After college, mom and dad had turned my old bedroom into a pink beachy guestroom. The tulips fit in perfectly.
Summers were spent vacationing near white sand and cozy beaches. My old bedroom showcases some of my favorite treasures from those trips. The picture below is from a Summer in Destin, FL with some of my cousins. In case you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the one laughing with my mouth wide open. I think I was still in high school here. The shells were either gathered during a walk on the beach or leftover from my our beach wedding.

Progress

I've spent so much time in the "new" office spiff'n it up this week. Knowing that I'm flying home tomorrow morning, I almost hated to lock it up today. I thought I'd share a few snapshots with you all. Remember, I work in the oil & gas industry. No fancy-pants decor allowed. I'm doing my best to keep it masculine. I'm coming back next week to finish the space. I'll share more pictures then.

Shopping Bootcamp

My back hurts from lifting heavy boxes, soon my feet will be falling off from power shopping in heels and I have boob sweat. Don't deny it, you know what I'm talking about. Good news: The office is coming together nicely. While shopping for work stuff I can't help but snap a few shots for my personal list back home. With our Study in mind, I think I'm using my time wisely.
I need two of these lights from Ikea and I'll use my military discount on that shelf from Lowe's! Let me know if you see a cute reasonably priced yellow chair for this room.

Bzz'n Around Pittsburgh

I've been plucked and planted in Pittsburgh this week for work. We're establishing a new office and I'm the Project Lead. In the last 24 hours I've bought everything from toilet paper to a refrigerator. Crazy.
Anyway...this past weekend Lee had his first OCS (Officer Candidate School) Training Drill. While he was sweating through a ruck march, I attended a cookout at Nick and Kristie's house. We stuffed our faces and then played volleyball until the sun went down. Seriously, I can't wait to play volleyball with friends all Summer. It was a blast. We're absolutely terrible but partly because we're too busy laughing at each other rather than focusing on the ball.
I DID notice that I was a weekend feature on Remodelaholic for my yellow door post! Pretty sure I felt like pigs were flying and worms had ears when I saw my name in lights. OK. There weren't lights but...still.
Do you piddle? I piddle through stores when Lee is gone. Shopping for nothing particular. Sometimes I leave with nothing and sometimes I leave with things like this:

Pier 1: $19

Note: They have a smaller one for $14 but I only saw it online because they didn't have it in the store. Also, I was at another Pier 1 today and the price was significantly more for the same piece I got last weekend. Weird.
