Wknd Happenings

So the guest suite makeover at Nana's went great!!! I took some pix but we're not completely done so I'm not sharing. haha
We(Lee & I):
Removed the heavy duty shelving units in both rooms
Tore up carpet in the bedroom and the connecting bathroom
Polished the hardwood floors in the bedroom and cleaned the existing tile in the bathroom
Painted the trim, baseboards, window sills and bathroom walls white
Painted the bedroom a butter yellow color
Sprayed the face plates silver
Replaced the shower curtain rod (they had a crazy metal one with brackets, screws, etc)
Rearranged the furniture to harness my chi (haha)
I then went shopping in the house to find a smaller night stand (Nana has a lot of options!)

Whew! I'm completing the transformation with some accessories this weekend when we go back.

When we got home I was due for a mani/pedi.

I then headed to the grocery store. I then made things that I can't eat. I made a big crock of chili for Lee and left it on low for 7 hours. (I swear I have the best recipe. Lee devours it.) I made a big bowl of tuna salad too. I can't take the credit for that recipe. It's dad's and it's incredibly yummy.) I even packed Lee's lunch and made him a scrambled egg and cheese sandwich using bagle thins for him to warm up this morning.

I started an insane diet and feel the need to keep busy so I don't chew on my finger. (Kidding. Kinda.) Anyway, I lost 10lbs in 1 week so I'm doing something right! Do me a favor and go eat this for me:

TGIF

Sometimes I think that I am the keeper of solutions in my position at work. I wear many hats and my least favorite is when I have to configure a solution for someone else's problem. I'm always happy to help, but biting my tongue nonetheless. My tongue gets very sore.

Anyway...this weekend we're on the road again for Lee's birthday. Last weekend we celebrated with my family and this weekend we will be with his. We always stay at his Nana's house. I have twisted her arm long enough to persuade her to let me amp up our bed and bath that we use at her house. My budget is minimal but we are ripping up carpet(hardwood underneath), painting the trim and walls, etc. I bought these sheets last night at TJ's:

I plan on pairing this with the already existing navy comforter and pinwheel quilt on the bed. Is it 5 yet???

Stock the Bar

I attended my 1st Stock the Bar wedding shower  last night in my dream neighborhood. No kidding. The neighborhood oozes cuteness. Imagine Desperate Housewive's Wisteria Lane mushed with Father of the Brides neighborhood. Are you following me? Anyway, prior to last night(months ago), I had already stalked the neighborhood's builder's credentials, etc to check out for my future home building project.
Back to the party...Stacy and Charlie are getting married!!! Yay!!! Caroline and Sean were in town from Chicago and hosted the sweet bash too. We had a cookout and gushed about Caroline's savvy party decorating skills. "I do" wish I would have taken pix. Darn it. I'm sure they did. I'll link you to their blogs to check out when they're posted...if they post them. It's so good to catch up with old and new friends. Work week cookouts should be mandatory AND on great porches like last night's shindig. I took a bottle of ice wine. I don't remember the brand but the chick helping me suggested it. Ice wine is yummy and brings back fun memories of when Lee and sipped some at a vineyard near Niagara Falls. You'll have to Google how ice wine is made. I remember it being fascinating but enjoying the tasting of it all more than the how it works details. Typical, I know.

Picture I took of what I took to the party before I made the bow smaller. Only a tad smaller. I like big bows. Can't help myself.

Progress

I'm making progress on THIS dresser. I'm pretty much obsessed with the color. Funny that it kinda looks like my NAILS this week. I couldn't wait to see what it looked like dry first thing this morning. I grabbed my screwdriver and added the hardware too. You can see I freshened up the handles too. Looks like jewelry. Jewelery for my dresser. I like that. Whatcha think so far:

Rawr

I lied. I couldn't help it. It's Summer and I bounce back and forth from neutral to something pop'n.

Craigslist Beauty

I'm a pleader not a beggar. I plead my case and Lee is sweet to deliver. Literally. Look at the beauty I won off Craigslist last night! Hubby picked it up for me and brought it home. He is a swell guy.
I plan to do something like this with it:

I love how both of these creative ladies took a drab piece of furniture and turned it into something fab.

Boom Boom

Tonight I'm going to my first Theta Alum meeting. Does this make me sound old? I've been wanting to get involved since I graduated and finally feel like I'm in a place to hand out more time. I'm excited and nervous. Silly, I know. The End.

Scaredy Cat

This was me while Lee was at drill this past weekend. In reality, I should have crashed Taylor and Jake's house when the night seemed hairy. On the other hand, I was determined to buck up and suck it up seeing that I'm a grown woman that owns a gun. I got Lee's new wheels on Saturday so the truck moves again.  I then headed to a go-to place of mine in town to get paper goods, etc for my cousin's baby shower this weekend!
Other decor will include: a banner, ultrasound framed pic, diaper cake, baby rose bouquet, clothesline to display new baby clothes...of course I'll post pix.

On Sunday I had brunch at The Diner with Taylor. O man that place gives you a lot of food and it is soooo good. I just learned that they serve breakfast all day and this excites me because I'm a sucker for Brenner. Breakfast for dinner is more my speed since my breakfast usually consists of a protein shake on the go but I can't argue with brunch!  When Lee got home we went to The Garage to chow down on a yummy, greasy burger. Heaven in a bun.
